According to IAPRI's Working Paper No.124 of October 2017, access to productive assets is critical in ensuring food security among rural households. The paper points out that specifically, acess to credits, markets and extension services are important in increasing the value o household assets, and thus household food security.
This market segment promotes farmers' access to improved productive assets by promoting sharing of assets through hiring and leasing.Firms and individuals owning such are hereby invited to list assets and allow farmers to hire them. This will bring the gap in access to credit and markets, as purchasing own assets is expensive. Farmer groups, cooperatives or individual farmers can equally request to hire any farm machinery and equipment.
